Her real name is "Björk Guðmundsdóttir". She was born in November 21, in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. She learned classical music and how to play flute and piano at a local music school from 6 to 14 years old. She sang "I love to you"(by Tina charles) at her elementary school on its open day. It was broadcasted on Radio 1, the only radio statio in Iceland. At the age of 13, she formed two punk bands ; Spit and Snot and Exodus. She played drum at Spit and Snot with her head shaven. Kukl released 2 albums in 3 years and split up. It was when Björk was 15 that she got married to Þór Eldon, who would be the 4th momber of the Sugarcubes. And between them her son Sindri was born in 1986. Around this time, she established Bad Taste Corporation (Smekkleysa in Icelandic), a record company and redio station and so on to support artists in Reykjavík. The Sugarcubes was formed in accordance with these activities in 1987.
